Connecting to MS-SQL Express

While not officially supported, MS-SQL Express databases can still be connected to BrightGauge using the generic MS-SQL connection.  A few notes on these databases:

  • Because these databases are not run from a service, the database must be up AND active in order for queries to sync
  • By default TCP ports are not enabled.  Please have a look at this document to http://razorsql.com/docs/support_sqlserver_express.html for help on turning on the TCP port for SQL Express.  Port 1433 (default for MS-SQL server) is preferred.
