We are very excited to announce the release of a really awesome feature, Rotating Dashboards! As of today, all customers of BrightGauge have early access to this feature and it can be found when pressing the TV button in any of your Dashboards. See below on where to find this feature:
Why did we ship this feature?
Well, first reason is that this was a very common and popular feature request that we heard from our customers. The need was the ability to choose a few dashboards when in TV mode and have the system rotate through them on a set interval. This way our customers with limited screen space (whether size of screen or count of screens in an office) can use multiple dashboards rotating to view all the important metrics to them instead trying to jam them all in one dashboard.
What are the details of the feature?
When viewing a dashboard and clicking on the TV button on the top right, you are now presented the option to select a single dashboard (the one you are on) or to rotate dashboards. If you select rotate dashboards, a modal comes up with the option to choose a playlist to play or to configure a playlists. There are three playlists and each one is private to your user account so not to worry, customize away! You can drag dashboards over from your list on the left and re-order as you please on the right. The playlists are saved when you press “Save & Present” or “Present” so you can reuse them over and over again.
Currently, the interval / timer is set to rotate a dashboard every 2 minutes and the next dashboard will fade in once time. You will see a pause button and a loader go around that pause button which is to indicate when the next dashboard will be loaded.
You can always pause the rotation if you would like to stay on a dashboard for a while and you can skip ahead to another dashboard from the dropdown list in TV mode.
What’s this beta tag mean?
Good question! :) We are releasing to everyone in beta in order to request feedback from those who use this feature. We especially want feedback on the rotation time... if it’s too long or too short. If there are enough different requests for timing, we will provide the option to customize the interval between rotation. And if we do so, we want to make sure we provide the right options in that potential dropdown so we’re looking to you for feedback!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask via our support team! We are very excited to bring this popular feature request to the market. We already use this in our office and love the flexibility it provides.
