Dashboard Filtering for Viewer Users

Overview

This document describes how to enable dashboard filtering for Viewer users in BrightGauge. After dashboard filtering is enabled for a Viewer, the Viewer can toggle filters on or off and exclude filters from dashboard gauges. Viewers cannot create, edit, or delete dashboard filters.

Note: Viewer filters should only be enabled for internal team members.

Enable Filtering for an Existing Viewer

To enable dashboard filtering for an existing Viewer:

  1. Navigate to Your AccountViewers.

  2. Click the Edit icon for the Viewer you want to edit.
  3. Select the Allow this user to filter dashboards checkbox.

  4. Click Save.

Enable Filtering for a New Viewer

To enable dashboard filtering for a new Viewer:

  1. Navigate to Your AccountViewers.

  2. Click Invite Viewer.

  3. Enter the user's contact information and select the dashboards you would like the user to access.
  4. Select the Allow this user to filter dashboards checkbox.

  5. Click Send invitation.

Using Dashboard Filters

After dashboard filtering is enabled for a Viewer, the Add A Filter option appears in the upper-right corner of their dashboards.

Click Add A Filter to open the dashboard filters menu, then switch the toggles to enable or disable dashboard filters.

A green filter icon in the upper-right corner of a gauge indicates that the gauge has a filter applied.

To exclude a filter from a gauge, click the filter icon. The filter icon turns white when the filter is excluded.
